MY SOUNDTRACK AUDIO COLLAGE PROJECT
In this personal project, you will create an audio collage that explores your connection to music and what your musical taste reveals about who you are. This is your chance to reflect, share, and creatively present the songs that shape your story.
🎵 You may include childhood favourites, songs you’ve recently discovered, or even tracks that feel like personal "guilty pleasures."
✨ This is an individual project that will be shared only with your instructor.
This project contains several components:
1) Reflecting on music’s role in your life.
2) Collecting the sounds that you want to use in your project.
3) Determining what those specific sounds mean to you or say about you.
4) Writing and recording a script that accompanies your music.
This will provide the listener with an understanding of both the music and you.

Students may select to submit work in either Visual Arts or Music in this competency.
The weighting for this competency is 70%.

An artist’s statement is a short piece of writing that helps you explain who you are as an artist and why you create the kind of work
you do. Whether you are composing, performing, drawing, painting, or designing, your artist’s statement gives your audience insight
into your creative choices, your personal inspirations, and the emotions or ideas behind your work.
In music and visual arts, this reflection is especially powerful - it helps clarify your intentions and connect with your listeners or
viewers on a deeper level. Writing an artist’s statement encourages you to step back, think about your process, and put into words
what you may usually express through sound or image.
Your statement is not just a description of your piece - it’s a way of sharing your artistic voice and vision.
It should be personal, honest, and thoughtful, and it allows others to better understand and appreciate the meaning behind your work.
